Bio Táman Trio

The Táman Trio is a new trio with Tamara Cuypers (clarinet), Thomas Landschoot (violoncello) and Tae Yoshioka (piano). 

The trio was founded at the end of 2005 with clarinetist Tamara Cuypers, cellist Tom Van Landschoot, and pianist Daan Vandewalle.  After a very pleasant concert tour in the American South West and a few concerts in Belgium, Daan left the trio to focus more on his solo carreer.  Early 2008, Tamara met Tae Yoshioka, a splendid pianist, who was willing to join the trio.  To continue the initial plans, they are preparing now for a new American tour that will take place in february 2010. 

Tom Van Landschoot 

Thomas Landschoot (violoncello) joined the music faculty of Arizona State University in 2001 after having taught at the University of Michigan. Born in Belgium, Landschoot began studying the cello at the age of six with his father, leading to a successful career as soloist and teacher.

He performs virtually the entire standard and contemporary repertoires of the cello, and several composers have dedicated new works to him. Mr. Landschoot regularly performs as soloist and in recital in concert halls across Europe, the United States and Japan. His recordings range from a disc of chamber music by James DeMars with pianist Caio Pagano to solo concerti with the National Orchestra of Belgium.

Mr. Landschoot holds a Master of Music degree from the Conservatory in Antwerp, Belgium, a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan, an Artist Diploma from Indiana University and an Artist Diploma (cum laude) from the Conservatory of Maastricht, Netherlands. His major teachers include Erling Blondal Bengtsson, Antonio Meneses and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, for whom he served as a teaching assistant. He also enjoys a close relationship with Bernard Greenhouse, the distinguished former cellist of the Beaux Arts Trio.

He joined the journalist and photographer Christopher Lambert in a concert that raised $350,000 to assist in building a hospital in Tamil Nadu, South India. In the summer of 2004, he and clarinetist Eddy Vanoosthuyze gave the world premiere performance of a double concert for clarinet and cello by Dirk Brosse and the European orchestra 'Prima La Musica'. One month later, they gave the American premiere with the Orchestra of the White House in Washington, D.C. He has performed for Belgium's Queen Fabiola and has been invited to perform at the Belgian Embassy in India when Prince Filip and

Princess Mathilde were visiting.

Recipient of the 2005 ‘Distinguished Teaching Award”, he has given master classes at conservatories and universities throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.  During the summers he has been on the faculty of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, the Texas Music Festival in Houston, the Meadowmount School of Music in New York and many others.

Mr. Landschoot plays a cello made in Turin by J.F. Pressenda.

Tom Van Landschoot (cello) werd in 2001 professor aan Arizona State University nadat hij les gaf aan de University of Michigan. Sinds mei van dit jaar (2007) werd hij vastbenoemd in zijn functie als cello professor.

Op zesjarige leeftijd kreeg hij zijn eerste cellolessen van zijn vader. Momenteel geniet hij een succesvolle carrière als uitvoerder en pedagoog. Hij speelt praktisch het volledige standaard en hedendaagse cello repertoire. Ook schreven verschillende componisten nieuw werk voor hem. Professor van Landschoot treed regelmatig op als solist in Europa, de VS en Japan. Zijn opnames omvatten zowel kamermuziek als solo concerti (oa met het Nationaal orkest van België). Tom Van landschoot behaalde een meester diploma aan het Conservatorium van Antwerpen, een master degree van de University of Michigan, een artist diploma van Indiana University en een artist diploma (cum laude) van het Conservatorium van Maastricht. Zijn bealngrijkste leraars zijn Erling Blondal Bengtsson, Antonio Meneses en Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, voor wie hij werkte als teaching assistant. Tom onderhoudt tevens een hechte vriendschap met Bernard greenhouse (Beaux Arts Trio). In de zomer van 2004 speelde hij samen met Eddy Vanoosthuyse en het orkest “prima la musica” de première van Dirk Brossé’s dubbel concerto voor klarinet en cello. Een maand later speelden ze dit werk met het orkest van het Witte Huis in Washington DC. Zo hielp hij de journalist Christophe Lambert $350.000 te verzamelen waarmee de bouw van een ziekenhuis in Tamil Nadu (Zuid India) gerealiseerd werd.

Tom geeft ook masterclasses in conservatoria en universiteiten doorheen Europa, de VS en Japan. Hij was lid van de faculteit van verschillende prestigieuze zomercursussen; waaronder the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, the Texas Music Festival in Houston en the Meadowmount School of Music in New York.
